In this knowledge article we discuss IP ratings and why it is important to select suitable protection.
IP ratings are defined in the IEC 60529 standard. An example is IP45, where IP stands for international protection. The first digit, in this case "4" refers to the level of dust protection. The second digit, in this case "5" refers to the amount of water protection. The first digit, ranges from 0 to 6, where 0 is no dust protection and 6 is full dust protection. The second digit ranges from 0 to 9k. Where 0 is no water protection and 9k is protection from steam jet cleaning. At lux solar we provide the highest level of water protection that is possible for the application. Please refer to each individual product for the IP rating.
