The SmartShunt is an all-in-one battery monitor, only without a display. Your phone acts as the display. The SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect App on your phone (or tablet) and you can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information, and much more.
Key features
- All-in-one battery monitor — no separate display to mount; your phone or tablet is the display
- Built-in Bluetooth for wireless monitoring through the free VictronConnect app
- Reads state of charge, time-to-go, voltage, current and historical data at a glance
- VE.Direct port plus an extra input for monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring, or a temperature sensor
- Connects to a GX device (such as the Cerbo GX) for full-system monitoring on the VRM portal
- Available in 300A, 500A and 1000A models, with IP65 options for damp locations
The SmartShunt is equipped with Bluetooth, a VE.Direct port, and a connection that can be used for monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring, or a temperature sensor.
In addition, the SmartShunt can be connected and read by a GX device. Connection to the GX device is made via a VE.Direct cable.
The SmartShunt is a good alternative to a BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is needed but less wiring and clutter are wanted.
Which SmartShunt do I need?
- 300A — a good fit for smaller campervan and tiny home setups where you're never going to see big surges.
- 500A/50mV — the right choice for most caravan, marine, and off-grid setups under 5kW.
- IP65 versions — pick these if you're mounting it in an engine bay, an under-floor battery box, or anywhere it might see moisture.
- 1000A/50mV — step up to this for big house-battery banks or 24V/48V systems pulling serious current.
Note: Victron have reported that there are issues with the SmartShunt 300A when used on a 48V supply.
Complete your monitoring setup
Get the most from your SmartShunt with the right companions:
- Cerbo GX MK2 — add a GX device for whole-system monitoring and remote control through the free VRM portal.
- VE.Direct cable — the cable that connects your SmartShunt to a GX device.
- Browse all battery monitors — compare the SmartShunt with the BMV-712 Smart and other monitoring options.
